On September 23, 2024 members of the community and Land Use Committee met to review the factual information regarding the Clintonville Outdoor Lab/School Forest and the Land to the North of the Middle/High School.
Some members of the School Board have expressed that we have a great asset that other districts do not have, and they would like to see formal plans/goals/curriculum involving the land.
Currently, grade level teachers utilize the outdoor lands for various reasons and the Science/Agriscience programs have invested time, money, and curriculum into this land.
The meeting was held in the Clintonville Middle/High School Library. Mr. Kuhn, District Superintendent, made it very clear that the meeting was not to propose ideas, but rather to gather factual information. The presentation included pictures and data that he had gathered from various sources, including interviews with those people currently and formerly involved in the Outdoor Lab Project. Those that attended the meeting were encouraged to add any information to the presentation that they knew was factual. Included in the presentation are links to documents that stated previous mission and goals of the programs.

As the land use committee continues to meet, there will be opportunities for people to express their opinions regarding the future use of district owned land. Mr Kuhn has stated that he has already received multiple ideas which include: keeping all the land for future use, selling some or all land, moving the bus garage, creating an outdoor learning center and amphitheater, extending walking trails, planting harvestable timber, creating a district owned solar field learning center, creating another school forest, and even creating housing developments.
As we continue to move forward we will continue to gather data by reaching out to experts. The ultimate goal is to eventually create short and long term goals for both the Outdoor Lab and other district owned land.
The next meeting is scheduled for November 4, 2024 at 6:00pm in the High School Commons/Cafeteria
