8-18-20 Communication

8-18-2020 CPSD Communication

  • Registration - It is typical this time of year that we are waiting for many student registration materials to be returned that were not completed last week.  In order to best help us prepare for the school year, we need to know if students will be virtual or if they will be attending in person (according to the phases of risk chart).  If the paperwork is not completed and returned by August 20th, we will default the student registration to attending in person. We are asking for a quarterly commitment for families choosing the all virtual option. If you still have paper packets of registration materials, please drop them off at the district office or individual school buildings as soon as possible. Thank you for your help!

  • Information regarding student placement in group A and group B

    • Our goal is to reduce the number of students in the building to best meet social distancing guidelines.  Social distancing is not just specific to classrooms, but busing,  lunch rooms, recess, library and other common spaces.  Grouping students allows the school day to function like a normal day with less students.  As an example, having 11 students in a class is much easier to social distance than 22 students.  It will also allow more individualized learning during face-to-face  in person learning days.

    • Initially students will be split by their last names and same households.

      • Group A will consist of students whose names end with A - L and Group B will consist of students whose names end with M - Z.

      • Reasons for switching groups may include but not limited to:

        • Siblings with multiple last names that live in the same household

        • Balance class sizes

        • Specific student services availability

      • Building Administrator or secretary will contact you if a group switch needs to occur based on the above criteria

      • Students with IEPs will also be placed in groups according to their last name.

      • Students who are 100% virtual will also be assigned a group. They will follow expectations and lessons for that group.

      • Learning expectations will be specific to building and/or subject taught.  The building administration is discussing learning expectations with staff.  This includes what face-to-face learning, virtual learning, and 100% virtual learning will look like.  These expectations also include essential standards, assessments and daily lessons.
