Rexford/Longfellow Elementary is honored with Wisconsin Title I Schools of Recognition Award

MADISON — State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor recognizes Rexford/Longfellow Elementary in Clintonville as being among 107 schools in the state that received Wisconsin Title I School of Recognition honors in the 2019-20 school year.

The Schools of Recognition award is presented to schools leveraging federal Title I funding to provide additional resources and services to economically disadvantaged students. The staff and students of  Rexford/Longfellow Elementary earned an award for BEATING THE ODDS. This is the first year Rexford/Longfellow Elementary has received this award. Criteria for receiving a Schools of Recognition - Beating the Odds award includes being in the top 25% of high-poverty schools in the state of Wisconsin and having above-average student achievement in reading and math when compared to schools from similar sized districts, grade configurations, and poverty levels.  Additional criteria, and a full description of award categories can be found on the DPI’s website. Rexford/Longfellow Principal Tom Burkhalter stated, “On behalf of Rexford/Longfellow Elementary, we are thrilled to receive this award that recognizes the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. We are committed to building upon this progress by providing the best learning opportunities for all children at Rexford/Longfellow Elementary.”
