Students in Mr. Rose's 7th grade science class recently studied the effects of osmosis on potatoes. Students measured the mass of potato pieces and placed them in waters with varying levels of dissolved sugar. After 24 hours passed, students remeasured the mass of the potato pieces. Some potatoes gained mass, others lost mass, and still others remained the same. Students then had to explain what happened, which way the water moved through osmosis, and why the water was driven that way.
Last week, the 6th grade class went on the Northern Lakes field trip in Rhinelander, WI. It was an amazing experience filled with outdoor activities, teamwork, and lots of fun memories. From exploring nature and trying new activities, students had the chance to learn outside the classroom and enjoy everything northern Wisconsin has to offer.
